Meet our September spotlight volunteer!
We are so excited to introduce you to Liz!
She has been a huge help to NVHS for many years—making life better for the cats in our community. Learn how Liz got started with NVHS and all the wonderful things she does to help us and cats!

How long have you been a volunteer with NVHS?
I first heard of NVHS when I moved to Norwood 1998, as I found some kittens near one of our dumpsters. I contacted Janet who was the president at the time and she came and took them.
It turned out we had quite a few feral cats around here, and a lovely woman named Joan, who lived in the complex, cared for all of them for several years.
What do you do for NVHS?
I helped out NVHS here and there over the years until I retired 11 years ago and then was able to help out in other ways and more often.
For several years , I helped NVHS with the Walk for Animals ,which we held at Borderland State Park.
Currently, I'm involved in fundraising by contacting stores, restaurants, etc. to procure raffle items and such for our fundraisers that we hold. I also help out in different areas and aspects of NVHS when I can.
Do you have a favorite cat that you've adopted?
I’ve had cats my whole life, and I adopted my 10-year-old cat named Plum last year. Her 90 year-old owner had passed, and I went and met her, and she was beautiful and sweet.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love to travel to Europe and the U.S., read, spend time with my family, and I have several wonderful groups of friends that I have met over the years through work, childhood, and school friends, etc. that I spend time with doing fun things.
