Our spotlight volunteer!

Meet Julie, one of our incredible NVHS volunteers! We're so grateful for everything she does, and we can't wait for you to get to know her. We asked Julie to share a little about herself, what inspired her to volunteer, and what she does for NVHS.

How long have you been a volunteer with NVHS?

I attended my first walk for animals 30 years ago and have supported NVHS since then. I joined the fundraising committee 6 years ago.

What do you do for NVHS?

I work with the committee to coordinate and plan fundraisers. You may know me as the person who does the calendar raffle live every night in May or any other live drawing.

Do you have a favorite cat that you've adopted?

Bowie and Tess

I adopted Bowie & Tess from NVHS over 20 years ago. I lost my Bowie at age three, it was heartbreaking. I was lucky enough to have his sister Tess with me for 18 years. She passed four years ago.

I know all of my babies will be waiting for me at the bridge one day.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

My husband and I are homebodies. Sitting on the couch with our three dogs watching TV. When we venture out, it is usually a concert or anything animal related.

We support all animal advocacy and fundraisers. If there is a bake sale or a raffle, I am there!

What's a fun fact about you?

Currently, I am just a dog mom who volunteers for a cat organization. Someday I will have cats again, I miss them so!
