PLEASE HELP US HELP THE ANIMALS
Make your Donation to the Neponset Valley Humane Society online right now through the Network for Good! Your donation is safe, secure, and private.
Sponsor a cat. Some cats just don't get adopted. Some are old. Some did not have the advantage of living among nice people when they were babies and so they are fearful. Some have medical issues. These cats still need a home and someone to love them. We are very fortunate to have foster homes who care for these cats for whom no one else wants to care. If you cannot adopt, maybe consider sponsoring one of these kitties.
Volunteer your time helping animals. We need your help! We need you to advocate for the humane care of all companion animals and feral cats.
Donate items: NVHS volunteers feed many foster cats as well as feral and neighborhood cats. We are always in need of cat food - canned and dry. Our cats are not fussy but they are hungry. If you are going to donate cat food, please stretch your dollar as far as possible and buy well-priced reasonable quality food.
Spay/neuter your own pet. Every year, millions of healthy adoptable companion animals are killed in overcrowded shelters in the United States due simply to overpopulation. Through responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter, someday every pet will have the loving home he or she deserves. You can be part of the solution by spay/neutering your own pet.
According to neighbors, Simon had been a stray for a long time. No one owned him and no one was caring for him. When he showed up at an NVHS feeding station, the volunteer feeder knew he needed help.
WELCOME TO NEPONSET VALLEY
OUR MISSION - Neponset Valley Humane Society was founded in 1993. We are an all volunteer 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization supported entirely by private donations. We are dedicated to helping companion animals and feral cats. We focus primarily on helping cats because cats are most at risk in our area. We also provide adoption services for pet rabbits and guinea pigs. We stand with large and small progressive groups throughout the nation who know that the pet overpopulation problem can and must be solved through responsible pet ownership and spay/neuter. Every rescue and every companion animal we spay/neuter brings us one step closer to a day when every companion animal has a loving home and every feral cat has a safe place where he or she can live peacefully.
SERVICES WE PROVIDE / OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU TO HELP
ALL VOLUNTEER TEAM - We are all volunteers and can always use more help. You can volunteer with us or help by advocating for companion animals and feral cats in your home, office and neighborhood.
RESCUE - We have a small but capable team of dedicated volunteers who work in the field responding to calls to help stray or abandoned pet cats and feral cats in our local communities.
SHELTER - We rely completely on dedicated foster families and are always in search of more volunteers to do foster care. Every pet we rescue needs a temporary place to heal and wait for a forever family to come along to adopt him or her.
ADOPTION SERVICES - Please adopt if you can. NVHS volunteers work hard to get to know the cats in our care so we can make a good match. People are not all the same. Neither are cats or bunnies. We want your adoption to be forever. Every adoption saves a life by enabling us to focus our limited resources on another pet in need.
SPAY/NEUTER - We advocate spay/neuter to decrease the pet overpopulation problem and regularly hold low cost spay/neuter clinics. The most important thing you can do to help decrease the pet overpopulation problem is to spay/neuter your own pet.
HOW WE USE YOUR DONATIONS - Because we are an all volunteer organization, we have zero expense for salaries. All our pets are housed in volunteer foster homes and so every donation dollar directly benefits the animals in our care. We put the animals' needs first and strive to help as many animals as possible with limited resources. We are a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. Donations are tax-deductible. Your support will help us improve the lives of more animals.
AWARDS - The NVHS all-volunteer Cat Rescue Team received a grant from the Mass Animal Coalition (MAC) to spay/neuter 80 feral cats in 2011 (in addition to 100 to be neutered with private donations). This grant is made possible through the Spay/Neuter License Plate program so thank you to everyone who has purchased a Spay/Neuter plate. If you have not purchased your plate, visit the MAC website at www.petplate.org.
